Introduction
Every Artisan Furniture piece begins its journey at our community factory in Jaipur, India, where skilled artisans handcraft furniture from sustainable solid woods such as Mango, Sheesham, Pine, Acacia and Oak. From there, our furniture is shipped to fulfilment centres in the United Kingdom (Ipswich), European Union (Magdeburg, Germany and Madrid, Spain), United States (Fairview, New Jersey & Compton, California), Canada (Brampton, Ontario), and Australia (Melbourne).
These instructions apply universally across all geographies. Whether a product reaches you in London, Berlin, New York, Toronto, or Sydney, the same principles of care ensure durability, value retention, and long-lasting beauty.

General Care for Solid Wood Furniture
- Avoid placing items in direct sunlight or near strong heat sources (radiators, fireplaces, or heating vents). Prolonged exposure can cause fading, splitting, or warping.
- Always use coasters, mats, or protective pads under hot dishes, wet glasses, or sharp objects.
- Wipe spills immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent staining or moisture absorption.
- Maintain indoor relative humidity of 40–60% where possible to reduce wood movement (swelling or shrinkage).
- Dust regularly with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth. Do not use excess water.
General Care for Solid Wood Furniture
Mango Wood
- Highly durable and sustainable, Mango wood thrives with occasional beeswax polishing to maintain sheen and nourishment.
- Avoid silicone-based and abrasive cleaners.
Sheesham Wood
- Distinctive for its rich grains, Sheesham should be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth and conditioned with natural wood oil or beeswax as required.
- Protect from sudden humidity or temperature shifts.
Pine Wood
- Softer than Mango or Sheesham, Pine requires extra care against scratches and dents.
- Use protective mats for heavy items; clean only with mild soap solutions or a lightly dampened cloth.
Oak Wood
- Known for its timeless strength, Oak should be dusted weekly with a dry or slightly damp cloth (immediately dried afterwards).
- Apply oil or wax every few months to enrich the surface and prevent drying.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to ensure colour consistency.
Acacia Wood
- Â Naturally dense and long-lasting, Acacia benefits from gentle cleaning with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to maintain its smooth finish.
- Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture; use occasional beeswax or natural oil to preserve lustre and prevent surface drying.
Painted, Lacquered & Decorative Finishes
- Painted surfaces: Clean with a soft damp cloth only. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives.
- Lacquered/gloss finishes: Keep free of dust and fingerprints using microfiber cloths. Use felt pads under heavy or sharp items.
- Distressed/hand-painted effects: Clean carefully with a soft cloth to maintain the artistic detail.
Brass, Metal & Boxed Details
- Brass trims/inlays: Wipe with a dry cloth. For tarnish, use mild brass polish with care, avoiding adjacent wood or paint.
- Other hardware (hinges, handles, knobs): Keep dry and clean with a soft cloth to prevent rust or discoloration.
Upholstered & Leather Elements
- Fabric: Vacuum regularly using a soft brush attachment. Blot stains gently with a clean cloth.
- Leather: Wipe with a damp cloth and condition occasionally with a leather balm. Keep out of direct sunlight to prevent fading or drying.
Moving & Placement
- Always lift furniture when moving; never drag.
- Use felt pads or protective mats under legs to avoid floor scratches.
- Place furniture on level surfaces to prevent strain on joints.
