1. Our Vision: Community Craft, Global Responsibility

Artisan Furniture combines centuries of craftsmanship in Jaipur, India with modern sustainability frameworks to deliver products that respect both people and the planet. Every piece is handcrafted at our community factory in Jaipur and distributed through our six fulfilment centres in the UK, EU (DE & ES), US (NJ & CA), Canada, and Australia.

This global supply chain is measured and managed from forest floor to customer door, ensuring transparency at each stage: sourcing, manufacturing, packaging, freight, and last-mile delivery.

2. Responsible Timber & Forestry

  • Regenerative sourcing: Only timber from regulated, commercial plantations is used.
  • Mango lifecycle: Most of our solid mango wood is sourced from trees that have reached the end of their fruit-bearing life, preventing orchard burn-off and extending carbon storage.
  • Other species: Sheesham, Pine, and Oak are used selectively, always under responsible forestry laws.
  • EUDR compliance: All shipments into the EU meet the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), guaranteeing legality, traceability, and deforestation-free sourcing.
  • VRIKSH certification: As an Indian exporter, we are fully certified under VRIKSH timber legality assessment and verification scheme, endorsed by the Indian government for FLEGT compliance.
  • EUTR alignment: All timber is further aligned with EU Timber Regulation for legal sourcing.

3. Community-Driven Manufacturing

  • Artisan livelihoods: Our Jaipur operations sustain hundreds of families through fair wages, skills preservation, and safe working conditions.
  • Audit & assurance: Facilities are SMETA-audited, maintain BSCI compliance, and uphold strict zero child labourpractices.
  • Global recognition: Our community-first model has been featured in Forbes as a benchmark for sustainable, socially inclusive manufacturing.
  • GMP discipline: We maintain Good Manufacturing Practice standards across finishing, polishing, and packagingfor safety and consistency.

4. Packaging: Plastic-Free Pledge

  • Transition underway: We are systematically removing plastics and non-biodegradables from all packaging.
  • Sustainable alternatives: Packaging uses cloth, recycled paper, and biodegradable fillers instead of plastic wrapsor foams.
  • No cost impact: Customers are not charged extra for plastic-free packaging.
  • Goal: Achieve 100% plastic-free packaging across all categories by 2026.

5. Product Safety & Finishes

  • Lead-free promise: All paints and finishes are lead-free and applied in controlled spray booths.
  • Fire-safe fabrics: Upholstery fabrics are tested to BS5852 fire-retardant standards; each product carries hangtags and stitched compliance labels.
  • Termite protection: All wood is treated with Biflex + Low Aromatic White Spirit — refined, low-VOC carrier. , creating an invisible yet eco-conscious termite barrier.

6. Carbon Footprint & Logistics

We take a measured, technical approach to quantifying and reducing our carbon footprint:

  • Forest floor: Responsible forestry and mango lifecycle reuse reduce upstream deforestation impact.
  • Factory stage: Energy, material, and waste usage in Jaipur are tracked; wood offcuts are reused or recycled.
  • Packaging: Eliminating plastics reduces long-term waste and emissions.
  • Ocean freight: We never use air freight; containers are shipped by sea for lowest carbon intensity.
  • Fulfilment hubs: Regional distribution via Ipswich (UK), Magdeburg (DE/EU) and Madrid (ES/EU), Fairview (NJ, US), Compton (CA,US), Brampton (Canada), and Melbourne (Australia) reduces cross-border delivery emissions.
  • Last mile: Partner carriers are chosen for their carbon reduction commitments (including EV fleets in the UK &DE/EU).
  • Measurement framework: Our Sustainability Report methodology quantifies each stage “forest floor to customer door” — including sourcing, transport, fulfilment, and delivery.
