1. Timber Selection & Raw Material Inspection
- Only 100% solid mango wood is usedβethically sourced and environmentally compliant.
- Each plank is checked for:
- Moisture content (ideal range: 8β12%)
- Cracks, infestations, and structural weaknesses
- Uniformity of grain and usable surface area
- Supporting materials such as metal fixings, upholstery, and fasteners are sourced from approved vendors and inspected upon arrival.
2. Pre-Production Quarantine & Sorting
- All incoming timber is quarantined for stabilization before use.
- Defective or unsuitable materials are rejected and isolated.
- Wood is stored in humidity-controlled zones to prevent warping, mold, or shrinkage
3. Cutting, Joinery & Assembly
- Precision cutting is done according to master CAD designs or artisanal templates.
- Dimensional tolerances are strictly maintained (Β±3%).
- Jointsβsuch as mortise and tenon or dovetailβare tested for strength and alignment.
- Trial assemblies are performed to ensure correct fitment of all components.
4. Structural Balancing & Load Testing
- Tables, benches, and stools are checked on calibrated balance plates to ensure:
- 4-point ground contact
- No lateral wobble
- Even weight distribution
- Wall-mounted units undergo bracket strength testing and tilt angle validation to confirm safety once installed.
5. Handmade Carving & Artisanal Work
- Carved pieces are inspected for:
- Depth and sharpness of cuts
- Uniformity of repeated patterns
- Clean lines with no chipping or splintering
- Carving is always hand-executed and may carry slight individual variation, which is considered part of the productβs character.
6. Sanding & Surface Preparation
- All products undergo multi-stage sanding using progressively finer grit:
- Initial smoothing (80β120 grit)
- Secondary refinement (180 grit)
- Final touch-up (240 grit)
- Edges are checked for safe handlingβno sharp corners or unfinished burrs are allowed.
7. Polishing & Finish Application
- Polish is applied entirely by hand using lint-free cloths and natural waxes or lacquers.
- Each product is compared against a master finish sample to ensure color consistency.
- Final finish undergoes rub and scratch testing to confirm adhesion and durability.
8. Fumigation & Pest Treatment
- All wood is treated to meet global pest control standards.
- For exports, fumigation is performed in line with ISPM-15 guidelines using heat or methyl bromide treatments.
- Fumigation logs and pest clearance certificates are maintained internally and can be supplied on request.
9. Functional & Mechanical Testing
Where applicable:
- Drawers are opened and closed 10+ times to test smooth glide and alignment.
- Cabinet doors are checked for hinge movement, magnet catch, and gap symmetry.
- Locks, knobs, and metal fittings are tightened and torque-tested to prevent post-delivery loosening.
10. Branding, Cleaning & Presentation
- Artisan branding (logo plates or stamps) is reviewed for correct placement and clarity.
- All surfaces are wiped clean with microfiber cloths before packingβno residue, polish stains, or dust permitted.
- Upholstered items are lint-rolled and vacuumed where needed.
11. Packaging & Drop-Test Readiness
- Each product is carefully wrapped in multiple layers:
- Foam/bubble wrap at pressure points
- Corner protectors
- Strong 5-ply corrugated cartons
- Items are drop-tested (3-ft simulated fall) on flat and corner surfaces.
- Each package includes clear SKU labels, assembly instructions (if needed), and barcoded tracking.
12. Final QC Inspection & Photo Logging
- Before dispatch, every unit is signed off by a dedicated QC team member.
- Photographs are taken from all sides for internal tracking.
- Products failing the final check are marked for rework or rejectionβnot shipped under any circumstances.
13. Rework & Defect Management
- Acceptable rework includes:
- Minor finish touch-up
- Hardware replacement
- Rejects include:
- Structural faults
- Irreparable joint failures
- Severe aesthetic inconsistencies
- Rejected pieces are upcycled, recycled, or donatedβnever passed into the supply chain.
14. Continuous Improvement & Feedback Loops
- Feedback from partners, customers, and platforms is systematically logged and analyzed.
- Patterns of damage or complaints trigger root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Regular training and retraining ensure all artisans remain aligned with updated QC standards.
15. Supporting Documentation
Additional technical reports are available to customers upon request and include:
- Handmade Polish Protocols
- Timber Fumigation & Certification Procedures
- Functional Test Logs
- QC Photo Archive Samples
- Packaging Compliance Certificates
Conclusion
This framework reflects our belief in quality as a lived practiceβnot a final checklist. It is designed to instill confidence in every customer, platform, or stakeholder that Artisan Furnitureis committed to delivering excellence, consistently and transparently, across the globe.
